Employee Spotlight- Dakota Fisher
What made you interested in working at Parliament?
I was barely quitting my last job; I would go to work, sit down and get so bored. One day I walked by a Parliament booth and it looked like it was just fun. I was really looking for a job that didn’t make me sit down all day. The fact that the work is strictly on the weekends is perfect for school, so I can focus on school during the week. The schedule and income is based off of how hard I work, so it is really incentivizing for me; I can work less hours but work harder.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
I grew up in Southern Utah, in St. George. I spent a year at Dixie State before transferring to Utah Valley University (UVU). I also have my cosmetology degree.
What are some of your hobbies/personal interests?
Traveling, Rock Climbing, Snowboarding, Camping, Hiking- anything that’s outside, I love it! I love working weekends during the summer so I have the week to do the things I love.
What are you studying in school?
I am currently studying entrepreneurship and business. I want to start up a bunch of businesses!
Can you tell us about your trip you have planned?
I’m currently at REI looking for a backpack to pack for a month! I am flying out to San Francisco and from there, I will go to Thailand for 2 weeks. I’m going there with a group of people that do humanitarian work as well as run businesses.
Then I’m personally flying to Singapore, I don’t have anything planned I just want to meet people and explore! After that I’m flying to Sydney for a week, I don’t have much planned, I just want to learn how to surf. I will also be going to Auckland, New Zealand for a week. I’m crossing skydiving off my bucket list! Then I’ll come back home and get back to work! I’m thankful this is such a good job.
If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be?
As of right now, I believe if I could have dinner with anyone it would be Richard Branson. He is a phenomenal entrepreneur, and I really love the way he interacts with people. I would love to learn more from him! Though my mind my change in a week, I’m confident right now that he would be my top pick.
